Nar and Phu trek 17 days
NarPhu Region in north-east Manang district
are among the most exciting destinations in Nepal. Only opened
by the government to trekkers in 2002, this area, with its
dramatic landscape of rock and ridge, river and snow peak,
has seen only the tiniest number of tourists - usually mountaineers
- compared with any other trekking area in Nepal. The inhabitants
of these villages live on the edge - a few days' walk away
from the next village in Tibet and in Manang, they are extraordinarily
self-sufficient, coaxing out of the harsh landscape one crop
a year of tending to their precious yak.
