Ghorepani Poon Hill Trekking is best for those who wants to gain some experience of trekking and also for those who have limited time. It is a small trekking circuit in the lower part of Annapurna region. The prime destination of this trail is awesome viewpoint at Poon Hill from where one enjoys fascinating snow-capped peaks. The trekkers will have deep impression of this region as the trail leads to rhododendron forest, streams, heterogeneous landscapes and lush vegetation. This trek is also known as Annapurna Sunrise Trek. The trek challenges your stamina at Ulleri where there are more than 3000 stone steps, one of world’s largest stone steps. 

The trek starts from Nayapul which is in driving distance from Pokhara. On the way to Ulleri and Ghorepani you witness serene beauty of Mt. Annapurna (8091 m.) and Mt. Dhaulagiri (8167 m.). The ultimate destination, Poon Hill, gives eternal joy to trekkers as you are in unison with nature.

The experience of trekking does not stop here. From Poon Hill we further move to Ghandruk enjoying Gurung Museum in beautiful Gurung village. After walking through rhododendron forest we make way to Nayapul and then drive to Pokhara announcing end of our short trek.

Day 01: Arrival in Nepal at Kathmandu
Our airport representative will pick up you and take you to hotel in kathmandu.

Day 02: Kathmandu Sightseeing
We officially begin our tour from this day. Our guide will take you to the UNESCO World Heritage site in Kathmandu. You will visit Kathmandu Durbar Square where you will observe more than 500 years old Nepalese art and culture. Swayambhunath also known as Monkey Temple is another popular tourist destination that you will visit. Pashupatinath (Hindus’ greatest temple) is another place you will visit on this day. Bouddhanath, which is in walk in distance from Pashupatinath will be another spot of your visit. It is one of the largest stupas of South Asia.

Day 03: Drive to Pokhara
Stay overnight at Pokhara. Enjoy carefree romaing in lakeside and mountain views.

Day 04: Pokhara - Nayapul (bus) – Tikhedunga
Around 4-hour trek to Tikhedunga. The trail winds its way through bamboo forests and passes by a spectacular waterfall.

Day 05: Tikhedunga - Ghorepani
The Annapurna South (7273m) and the Hiunchuli gradually unfold on this pleasant walk uphill through fields and pastures and later through rhododendrons and oak woods. Ghorepani was originally a horse watering post, which has evolved into an important crossroads for tourists and the numerous mule caravans on the Jomoson-Pokhara trip.

Day 06: Ghorepani - Poon Hill - Tadapani
Today, very early in the morning, we rise to hike the 1 hour climb to Poon Hill (3,195m). A brilliant spectacle, this vantage point provides an unobstructed view of sunrise over the high Himalayas. We spend around 40 minutes taking in the wonderful spectacle, before returning to Ghorepani for a well deserved breakfast. This is famous as "Ghorepani Poonhill Trek in Nepal". This place is the most popular for doing Annapurna Trekking in Nepal. From Ghorepani, we ascend along ridges and through pine and rhododendron forests to Deurali (2,960m), before descending to Banthanti. From here we take the turn off to Tadapani (2,540m).

Day 07: Tadapani - Ghandrunk 
The trail gently descends through a subtropical forest highlighted by huge bamboo massifs and giant rhododendrons. Gandrung is the main village of the Gurung tribe, warriors known for their contribution to the famous Gurkha regiments.

Day 08: Ghandruk – Nayapul - Pokhara
We continue our descent to the Modi Khola river to Nayapul. From Nayapul we head towards Pokhara in a vehicle. Overnight stay in Pokhara.

Day 09: Drive to Kathmandu
Stay overnight in Kathmandu. And, pack baggages for your destination country

Day 10: Back to your country

Size of Trekking Group

For Poon Hill Trek, there will be one leader and Sherpa porter (1 porter for 2 trekkers). This arrangement is done for the smooth running of the campaign. It ensures that the trip will carry on as per plan even if anybody in a group gets sick. NTA can operate this trek for a group of any size. But, a group of 12 are considered as optimum size. However, if you have a group of more than 12, NTA can arrange this too.

Accommodations

We will spend three nights at a luxury hotel in Kathmandu and two in Pokhara. While on trek, we will spend four nights at local tea houses. All accommodations for this trek will be on twin sharing basis. However, on request, single rooms can also be made available but it costs additional $ 250 US.

Meals

During our Poon Hill Trek, we will enjoy typical Nepali food, different ethnic cuisines as well as all types of international cuisine like, Tibetan, Continental, Italian, and Indian. You can even enjoy hot chocolates, breads and drinks of different variety and snacks.
Breakfast of a day will be served at the same tea house or lodge where we spent the night, as per its menu. Lunch will be served on the way to destination and dinner will be served at the tea house where you spend the night. A welcome dinner, a farewell dinner and breakfasts will be served during our stay in Kathmandu.

Getting Visa for Nepal

You will get on arrival visa for Nepal. On arriving Nepal you will get tourist visa for 15 to five months. It depends upon your purpose of visit but regarding tour you will get the visa for 15 to three months.
For trekking you need to submit photocopy of passport and two pp size photo of yours.
